When I started this Substack, I honestly thought I would be lucky to write something once a week, and it would more likely be every two weeks. But, trans ideology just keeps on giving grist for the mill.
This morning The Spinoff published this article -
Tracking the surge in online anti-trans hate sparked by Posie Parker’s visit | The Spinoff.
It talks about the report released today by The Disinformation Project, and its’ discovery of increased online hate towards transpeople since trans activists violently destroyed the Let Women Speak rally, fronted by Kellie-Jay Keen, in Auckland on March 25. The Disinformation Project, amongst other things, tracks online hate towards transpeople, but so far does not appear to have tracked online hate from transpeople and/or trans activists towards anyone who questions, or doesn’t agree with, trans ideology.
The below paragraph in The Spinoff’s article specifically caught my eye -
“Responding to the report in comments provided to the Science Media Centre, Kyle Tan, a research fellow at the University of Waikato, said it “speaks directly to how trans people are made a scapegoat amidst the disinformation campaign to reproduce and reinforce white supremacy”. He emphasised that trans people are statistically much more vulnerable to incidents of sexual violence, and that there is no evidence to show trans people perpetrate violence against cisgender women or children.” [my emphasis].
First of all, the “no evidence” trope is frequently trotted out in the manner of a favourite red herring, but is a dishonest representation of the situation. As any good detective, or indeed researcher, knows, even in fiction, an absence of evidence does not mean that there is no evidence. Here in New Zealand, we have no official agency who will collect data, either anecdotal data or documented data, to ascertain how policies and regulations which incorporate trans ideology affect women and girls. To say that there is no evidence is a dishonest use of the absence of any official agency to collect it. Trans ideology is an enormously socially disruptive ideology, especially for women and girls, whereby it allows any man whatsoever who says he’s a woman to have entry into all women’s and girls’ spaces and sports. It is (deliberately?) remiss of our government and Public Service not to monitor the impacts of forcing it on us via policies and regulations.
Second, there is clear evidence from both the USA and UK that men who say they’re women are imprisoned at around twice the rate, if not more, of other men for sexual offences. Therefore, is it also untrue to say that there is “there is no evidence to show trans people perpetrate violence against cisgender women or children.”
Here is a chart showing the stats from the UK Ministry of Justice –
Additionally, here is an article from 4WPub, which has a link to the USA branch of Keep Prisons Single Sex, from where the writer got the stats - USA: Almost 50% of Trans Inmates in Federal Custody for Sex Offences (4w.pub)
There is currently a collaboration to get these stats from NZ’s Dept of Corrections, but I anticipate that they will show a very similar pattern to the USA and UK. When these stats have been provided and analysed, I will publish them here.
Men who say they’re women – aka: transwomen in some people’s vernacular – are not women. They are men who say they’re women, and they retain the same character and behaviours they had, whether good or bad, before they started saying they were women. As the entire history of humankind shows, men as a group present the most danger to women and girls simply due to their biology. Police records as far back as they go will verify this. This is not to say that no men can be trusted, because there are many men who are more trustworthy than many women, but that there are times when the most expedient and efficient way to keep women and children safe, and to enjoy some freedom, is to exclude the entire group of men irrespective of any special identity some may adopt. Trans ideology tramples all over this, hence the warranted and entirely understandable pushback against it, which is frequently and erroneously classified as ‘hate’.
For further dissection of The Disinformation Project, if interested, Cranmer’s Substack previously published a piece about it on 11 April - From Academic Research to News Headlines: The Disinformation Project's Influence on New Zealand Media (substack.com)
PS: the web addresses on the chart, which are a bit blurry, are:
Offender Management statistics quarterly: January to March 2021 - GOV.UK (archive.is)
Gender identity, England and Wales - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)
Also, Professor Rosa Freedman, Professor Kathleen Stock, and Professor Alice Sullivan made this submission to the UK Parliament about the rates of sex offences for men who say they’re women. The comparative figures for the offending rates of men who say they’re women compared to men who don’t, are at the bottom of page 3.

Visiting London this week from insane California, I was surprised to see how many shared bathroom facilities there were. A man was waiting in Starbucks for me to put in the door code, barged in aggressively and sat in the stall next to mine. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe, yet it’s hateful for me to point that out. My husband also felt uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with women, like any normal man he understands it’s not appropriate.
OMG Orwell really missed his moment, didn't he? I would say you can't make this shit up, except he did. But his writing is found in the fiction section of the library, not the bit that contains books of facts that are true. The sheer gall of those who claim that a belief in biology is "violence" towards the fantasists and fetishists who are pushing the delusional thinking that allows this to escape the padded room where it belongs. Words do matter, but using them to make sense is important too. https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/sticks-and-stone-can-break-my-bones
