Our Councils are deceiving the public with their secret corruption of the word ‘woman’.
This is no innocent deception - it is planned and surreptitiously executed.
Last week, I wrote about the Selywn District Council in Canterbury, NZ, and how they promote a Women and Girls Pool Session at their Aquatic Centre without advising the public that any man who says he’s a woman can also go along to it.¹
I presume they justify this because they’ve decided amongst themselves to change the meaning of the words ‘woman’ and ‘female’ from a biological sex reality to that of a mystical gender identity. At the time of writing, the Selwyn District Council doesn’t appear to have felt the need to advise the public they serve of this in-house decision. I couldn’t find an open and honest statement regarding it anywhere in their promotional posters, website, or policies.
However, in response to a direct enquiry via email, they did acknowledge that they “welcome anyone who genuinely identifies as female” into their Women and Girls Pool Session.¹ In other words, they allow men in who profess to have a ‘woman/female’ gender identity, but they won’t tell you that unless you ask. Oh – excuse me – that’s men who genuinely professes to have a woman/female gender identity. How that genuineness is ascertained isn’t explained.
I decided to address the issue with the Aquatic Centre itself on Messenger, and was disturbed at the deliberate duplicity they employed in their response to me. I’m sure all the staff are very nice, but that doesn’t stop the practice of dishonesty. The whole Messenger thread is below, but to summarise, I asked if they allowed men who say they’re women into the Women and Girls’ Pool Session. The reply was that they only allowed women and girls. I pointed out that another response to this question from elsewhere in the Council said something different to that, and asked if they could confirm that only biological women and girls were allowed, or if they’ve changed the meaning of the words ‘women’ and ‘girls’ to include men who say they’re women/female. They didn’t answer.
To me, it’s clear that, like other Councils around the country, the Selwyn District Council has decided to corrupt the meaning of the words ‘woman’ and ‘girl’ to mean anyone who identifies as such, irrespective of their biological sex. It’s also clear that they don’t want to be open and honest with the public about this. We can pretty much guarantee that every time biological sex has been replaced with gender identity, it has been done as a result of backroom deals with TQ+ lobby groups without public support or awareness.
Tragically, our Councils are now populated with people who think that this is acceptable.
Their excuses for this circle around how those who choose an identity opposite to their biological sex are marginalised and persecuted. Even if there’s any truth in this, when have we ever before allowed men who are marginalised and persecuted into women’s and girls’ spaces? Regardless of their status or state of mind, they’ve still had to stay out of female spaces. Suddenly, though, that all gets changed for the group of men who say they’re women, simply because they’ve co-opted the word ‘woman’, and convinced everyone it’s the word that matters and not the biology.
Prioritising men who say they’re women over actual women and girls, is nothing less than a crime-in-waiting against actual women and girls. Those who create the policies which endorse this are malefactors, whatever the reasons they do it for, and whether or not they do it with a public-facing smile.
Messenger thread -
There was no reply from the Aquatic Centre after this last message to them. I expect I am now persona non grata. Ah, well - at least I don’t deceive anyone about what a woman or girl is.
¹There is NO permissible number of men, of any stripe, to be in women’s and girls’ spaces. The info about the Selwyn District Council’s Aquatic Centre begins roughly from about halfway into this blogpiece.

OMG! Obviously that’s what they do.,stealthily and dishonestly! Way to go NOT! Wonder why women’s rights are gone? Who decided this?
Good on you for keeping at them!! Thank you! 🙏
Using a gendered, rather than sexed definition of the word "woman" is dangerous for all girls and women. It not only erases the reason that female and male categories were created in the first place (which was to afford women a way to engage in public life safely), it pretends that everyone can easily judge which men are "safe" and which ones are "dangerous". (Which kind of begs the question about the motives of men who deliberately insert themselves into places they know they are not welcome to be in.)
If only other countries had the balls (ha, ha, pun intended) to declare that biology is reality and gender ideology is no more than feelings and beliefs (which no one can be compelled to believe or practice), the world would be in a much-improved state. https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/we-told-you-so
