Journalist and writer, Yvonne van Dongen, has written what is hoped to be the first of several deep dives into the racketeering [my word] by some registered charitable organisations here in New Zealand. Unsurprisingly, the neo-rainbow racket features significantly.
Yvonne’s explosive eposé looks at the seemingly easy-money rort by neo-rainbow ‘charities’ InsideOUT, Rainbow Youth, and Rainbow Tick¹, which are the names that crop up most regularly whenever the rainbow subject arises anywhere.
Although these organisations still trot out the ‘vulnerable individuals’ trope as their raison d’être, I suspect that the biggest vulnerability they feel now is any possible reduction in the flow of money into their coffers.
