The whole shebang about the NZ Midwifery Council’s persistent determination to rid their Scope of Practice of the words ‘woman’ and ‘baby’.
Midwife, Deb Hayes, takes us from where it began to where we are now.
It beggars belief that the NZ Midwifery Council still have a devil worshipping-style aversion to using such holy words like ‘woman’ and ‘baby’ in their Scope of Practice. Yet, here we are. After the Council first decided to revise the Scope six years ago, they’re still trying to dodge using those (apparently) most egregious of words. I’m surprised they haven’t tried pushing the terms ‘inseminated person’ and ‘product of insemination’ in their slavish devotion to the brain rewiring language of gender ideology. But, maybe it’s just a case of smaller steps first.
Midwife, Deb Hayes, took on the Midwifery Council over their Scope from hell, and now takes us on the long, twisted trek from the first revision of the Scope of Practice to where we are today. It’s a story of what happens when brains get completely rewired by an ideology, and become impervious to reason.
The Māori women’s group Mana Wāhine Kōrero (Sovereign Women Speak) have hosted Deb’s précis of this perfidy on their Substack. Read it here -

Below, Deb also talked with Leah Panapa on The Platform about her article, and the madness within it.
