I have found an eye opening article about what goes on in the newsrooms - apparently what does is mass revolts by the younger generation of activist-journalists demanding editorial policy be skewed their way. With the warning for outside-Aus readers this source is considered a conservative magazine: https://quadrant.org.au/the-abcs-ultimo-intifada/ Its a summary of a paywalled article in the SydMornHerald.

This example comes from a different culture-war front, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but swap the subject for gender and the dynamics are identical.

That is so disturbing, but also not surprising. Younger staff now seem to have no idea how to keep a lid on their feelings and function from a place of professionalism. I know we can’t always ignore how we feel about an event or situation, but feelings are pandered to now, instead of being managed either voluntarily or by senior people giving that instruction.

Thanks for the coverage of my column, Katrina. Much appreciated. Happy to be a "crusty ol' journo"!

Interesting that the MoH evidence brief has been officially delayed until next year. I have been told the MoH might be waiting for Cass’s final report (which is is due very soon) to appear before our ministry ventures an opinion.

That could well be the case, Graham. The MoH haven't been at their best about puberty blockers - taking advice from all the wrong people, I expect - so fingers crossed the Cass report will begin steering them in the right direction.
