I always find I am truly amazed at the capacity for deception perpetrated by the patriarchal system on society. That and how many women are allies in their own erasure, belittling and destruction. A quick glance at any recent women's rights public meeting anywhere on the globe will show this. Our signs are all, "keep your hands off our bodies", while the "other side" boasts such charming phrases as, "Kill/decapitate TERFS/cunts" and (my particular favorite), "Suck on my ladydick". (Um, no thanks, I'll pass on that.) If words truly were the "violence" that the trans bots claim, we would all be dead by now and they would have to find some new group to harass.
The other thing that that gathering in Welly demonstrated is that when the police step up and do the job we pay them to do, no one has to go home via the emergency department.
Hi Jo, this Turn Up for Women rally in Wellington was a different event to the Let Women Speak rally in Auckland on March 25, where, as you say, a handful of police stood back and let the TRA thugs do their violence.
I know this was in Wellington and I stood up and finally got a chance to speak. So I was there! were you? The police were visible (for a change) but on the edges of the parliament grounds. I took photographs. My comment never said they "Stood back and let the TRA Thugs do their violence' They were there but disengaged and disinterested.
Thanks Katrina, it's really good to read that, and you're right, I've never seen any woman try to get among the TRAs at KJ's events. God no. Some of those groups are unbelievably aggressive.
Rex Landy is the best. She has the best insults to offer the other crowd, and quicker wits than the whole lot of them put together. It looked like a very successful event and lets hope for many more of them.

Yes, it's quite nice to be able to turn up to an event, and then quietly go home afterwards.
The Police did not step up as you say they were way way off in the distance. Looking bored
