Thursday this week¹ saw me once more winging my way to Wellington, this time to meet with NZ’s Law Commission to make an oral submission to them in person.
Thank you, Katrina, for your usual brilliant explainer. I see this whole thing as just another building block in the trans edifice, that only works because so few citizens even know it is happening. I spent most of my morning clearing out a huge amount of random foliage from a major hedge trim, being helped by a very kind man who lives down the road who offered to give me a hand. Typical Kiwi farmer bloke: he had no idea that the law here meant that any man could sit in the changing rooms of the local pool watching his wee granddaughters undressing, just by uttering the magic words "I'm a woman".
And don't make me laugh with the whole "where's your proof" BS around why women might not want penises everywhere. Um, how about every aspect of society? We don't have laws or regulations around where women can't go, because they aren't necessary. 98% of sexual offenders are men and most women prisoners have been subjected to violence by men. We don't need to prove that men are dangerous, men need to prove they are safe.
If these MPs need some real examples of the perils of pushing this crap through, they might like to have a look at Scotland, where this issue ended the political career of Nicola Sturgeon. And please save us all from handmaidens and social justice warriors: https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/the-rise-and-fall-hopefully-of-the
We need to be brave enough to declare we refuse to allow men into women’s spaces. Only then might we step the word “gender” being misused.
I am ready to go to prison rather than respect ridiculous law changes.
We must protect traditional places of refuge (eg convents, women’s refuges) from entitled narcissistic men declaring themselves to be women. There needs to be legal protections so that these institutions and organisations can defend themselves from invasion of privacy.
Sex must remain a defined characteristic. “Gender” will always be a word with debatable, unreliable meaning.
This is largely because "gender" has no application to humans.
Nobody can define it. That's because it's a linguistics term for words only. John Money knew this and that's why he started the confusion with "gender roles." Complete nonsense.
If it means anything, everything, hair, feelings, sex, not sex, stereotypes, social trends, personality, culture, psychology, shoes, clothing, makeup, mental illness, hobbies, hormones--then it means nothing.
Passing laws on this is literally insane. If you mean sex, then say sex. There are two. Nothing else.
You probably already know this but your readers might not - the Labour parliament in the UK is making the same noises about amending the equality act and replacing ‘sex’ with gender. Two prominent women’s groups are mobilizing their members and organizing a meeting at Westminster (parliament) next month. Individual constituents from around the country are requesting meetings with their MP to discuss views and hopefully detail women’s concerns.
I have requested a meeting with my MP but will be surprised if he agrees.
I also watched a YT video last night about Menopause
The doctor is explaining what neuronutrition is and at one point describes how during puberty and pregnancy the female brain is chemically changed by hormones to make it more empathetic. This makes them safer in a male dominated world and allows new mothers a better chance of understanding what babies and children who can’t speak, need.
This is only one of many deeply entrenched evolutionary differences between male and female that are being uncovered and will hopefully support a stronger legal definition of what a woman is.
The lack of empathy and understanding of men demanding access to women’s spaces clearly demonstrates their maleness and should be a marker that legally prohibits them access.
Katrina, what a well written piece absolutely spot on. What strikes me in your submission is that women have to come up with the evidence, women have to explain themselves to request what is truly necessary for their sex. It’s like women now have to go out with a begging bowl and ask nicely if we can please have our changing rooms and access to recreation spaces. As a young girl I was accosted by a man outside public toilets he dropped his pants and started to masturbate. I was frozen to the spot, I think I was 7/8 at the time. To this day I am guarded when entering public toilets and would never let my daughter out of my sight when she was young and in public spaces. What the LC fail to realise is we can never let a law be passed that will give access to the perpetrators that will take advantage of this opportunity.
Thanks :-) Yes, the requirement for evidence has been a very soft and broad requirement from TQ lobbyists, and a hard and very focussed requirement from women.
This is very much a tilted playing field now. Once you allow the language to be corrupted it’s almost impossible to win an argument.
You need to refuse to play that game and insist instead on going back to the basics. Sex is a physical identity. Gender is a performance of an identity and as such it can never be an identity in the real sense of the word. As Korzybski put it :“The map is not the territory”
"To my knowledge, the same hard evidence which is deemed to be absent from women’s reasons for not wanting men who identify as women in our spaces, is also absent from the reasons which those same men give for wanting access to female spaces." Excellent point. The same-old double standard about trusting and caring about men and not women. Great mahi, KB. XX
Well the men who have decided they are women will say in order to fulfill their new identity using women’s space will make them one of the gang !!! Again, why should women have to oblige. I won’t be letting them into my gym changing rooms which will result in management cancelling my membership. So women will be marginalised again and have no where to go , extreme I know but if this creep in what does the future hold for women and girls ?
It takes all sorts of action to fight this incursion into our spaces, there's no one 'right' way, we need to come at it from all angles. Whatever works for one woman mightn't work for another, but it all works.
Another public service performed thank you Katrina.
These commissions...jobs for academics & law professionals am guessing, to staff reviews, processes & provide advice to govts?
All other remarks here echo my own. Particularly where CCC is concerned & the fact most ratepayers are ignorant.
I recall where I was when I first heard Jordan Peterson on RNZ relating his uni travails about pronouns, yrs ago. It was a lightbulb moment as my former learning/work was linguistics, so my antennae went nuts. I don't/wont play their game either & of course we know how things have gone since that early benchmark moment.
I read Brendan O'Neill's latest on Spiked just now, the Olympic boxing madness, & can only cheer his last line...'let's ring the bell on this crap'.
Snd there is a review of the health and disability commissioner act putting trans right into every clause of the code of patients rights. This would make this terrible medicine a human right transition medicine and will become unstoppable no one could oppose it despite the absolute lack of evidence for safety or effectiveness.
I’ve seen medical scandals before and this seems to me the most damaging .
My exposure to these issues I think this is the worst I’ve ever seen terrible medicine become an unquestioning right of vulnerable young people it’s a true state of human rights
How opportunistic is this from trans lobbyists, eh? I have heard them wailing about the suggestion that men who say they're women (and vice versa) should use the unisex toilets which are accessible for the disabled, instead of using female toilets, because they object to being associated with being disabled. Yet, as soon as they see an advantage in being associated with disability, they're in like a robber's dog. And we have brainless bureaucrats nodding along to it! As you say, the worst medical scandal for a VERY long time. Anyone with a just an ounce of commonsense can see that making sad stories the only evidence required to implement a brutal medical process is wrong on a thousand levels.
I'm thinking that on every form where I am asked what my gender is - I am going to select other and write Gender-free. Two reasons, in defiance of gender- ideology I have a sex not a gender and imagine what it would do stats if everyone was Gender-free. Do you think it would force them into having a sex based question?
Thank you, Katrina and all who took the time to represent women. I cant tell you how much I appreciate what you do. Unfortunately have I little faith in the mind virus affected academics and value signally women, waking up and seeing the truth. They will put this into law, we live in the land of the woke and our media are their public relations managers but I will not give up. I have a personal goal to become a full blown honey badger, love Gad Saad, instead of starting the debate and giving up when name calling and abuse starts, like the honey badger I will not backdown. Online and face to face I stand my ground, stick to the facts, call out bullying words, refuse to indulge their fragile ego, point out their lack of critical thinking, and yes if necessary insulting them. At the end of the day if only one person who reads or listens, remembers, repeats and wakes up to reality then the war is won. Each time you engage, you learn more about the disease, research more facts and the stronger you become. Baby Honey Badger standing next to you, inviting everyone to live their true lives.
Yes, it's difficult to make any headway against the indoctrination at the moment, but we're laying the groundwork for younger women to start pushing back against it in earnest. We women got blindsided with this intentionally sly insertion of transgenderism into our lives, and had no defence against it at first. However, we have increasingly gathered our defences, so that those who come after us don't have to start from the beginning like we did.

So many great points 👏 👏👏

I’ll be interested to see how that meeting goes at Westminster. Is it an outdoor rally, or an indoor meeting?
Thank you so much Katrina for your huge effort.
It was no small task to write this submission, travel to Wellington and orally present it.
I can't see how it can be ignored, filed away and forgotten.
It is on the record... loud and clear.

We have learned the lesson about not using the corrupted language of TRAs, and very much try to avoid doing that.
Luckily, I've always had a talent with words, and I have some pretty good original sarcasm over the gendurrfeelz madness.
You're lucky. I'm not so clever with thinking on my feet, although I'm getting much better at it now, of course - lol!

I've eschewed "identify as". It's now

Truly terrible implications.
