Chris Hipkins is derisive of Casey Costello spending so much time and energy on such matters, and feels ministers should not be getting involved in such things. But he would say that. He's a MAN. I don't understand with all the screeching from transpeople and transactivists about the non-binariness of sex, why they spend so much energy trying to squeeze their non-binary bodies into the OTHER SIDE OF THE BINARY!

Note there's only two sexes to 'change' into haha. All that spectrum/feelings bullshit and there's still only two.

Cis Hipdick knows what a woman is - well, he knew when he was rooting his secretary behind his wife's back! Reality will prevail, because biology doesn't gaf about feelings.

Thank you Katrina for sharing the Herald article. Looks like opposition to gender ideology has reached critical mass. I'm beside myself with excitement - a top Aussie judge has ruled against puberty blockers in a case already having impact, Costello has directed Te Whatu Ora to correct their language, and now, of course, the UK decision. Oh, and even Trump... All in a few weeks - and the press is reporting it all. Can't wait for the whole vile edifice of "gender ideology" to crash down!

It's looking good, isn't it? The pushback will be brutal, but once the edifice starts crumbing, it's hard to repair the cracks fast enough.

Congratulations on what the movement has been able to achieve so far, but Australia will be a harder nut to crack. This UK judgment is based on existing pre-dating laws, but in Aus these have already been changed since the Gillard govt and self-ID introduced at Vic level last term.

So I think the court route will not suffice and we will need to roll back legislation. That means election wins, and although ALP looked shaky the Trump tarriff jack-in-the-box has given them a respite. At least the Greens look like getting a kicking.

Yes, a different scenario than what we have in Aus and NZ. It does make it somewhat more difficult to deny the reality of biological sex here, though, without looking like a deliberate prat, when the UK Supreme Court has confirmed it. I have no doubt it will be tried, but it will more difficult not to be laughed at now. However, as you say, trans ideology has been embedded in legislation, so will have to be prised out by Parliament.

And as per my comment above time NZ followed by scrubbing the Self ID laws off the books too so we don't have this ridiculous situation where a man can get a legal document purporting he is a female when he clearly remains a male.

Cis Hipdick knew what a woman was he was fucking his secretary in the Beehive, destroying his marriage.

I'm loving the tranny meltdowns and threats - as in, show us who you really are, boys! The mask has slipped - say 'no' to a tranny cockfrocker and watch the man appear.

We're never going back to letting transvestites and their perversions. NEVER.

It's revealing, all right! Although we saw it long before the big reveal happening now, of course.

Fran was on a podcast? or tv panel? a year or so back arguing cogently for the sex binary. But she didn’t get much air time.

Celebrating an awareness of commonsense seems so pedestrian until you contemplate the words of those 'currying favour' by feral associations: which is what we saw with Marama Davidson, Chris Hipkins and still get a fetid whiff of from Matt Doocey. Women deserve our respect, deserve our human rights, deserve to be recognised as a biological sex. We are not and have never been a subset of 'mankind' (now there's an oxymoron for you).

True - those men claiming to be women could not be called ‘kind’ in the least!

The Labour and Green parties, not just in NZ but everywhere, are disgraced by their associations with the Corporates that have forced them into these positions. I think a lot of us wonder why it takes Conservatives to oppose this agenda, and a lot of us have never voted this side of politics. Why are we being gaslit by parties that we vote for.

Here in NZ, National don’t have clean hands, either. All Nats voted for sex self-ID, the majority voted for the conversion therapy bill, and they take direction from Young Nats who appear to have soaked up trans ideology, as have ACT to a large degree. It’s only NZ First making any show of opposing it.

Unfortunately, it is even worse in Australia. For example, Victorian law allows people to change the sex on their birth certificate. I fear that reality and commonsense may never prevail.

Expand full comment
Katrina Biggs's avatar

We have allowed that here in NZ since June 2023. We do have a clause which states that a birth certificate doesn’t have to be considered confirmation of a person’s sex, though, and other factors can be used to determine that.

It doesn’t specify what other factors, so our eyes and ears can be enough. However, hardly anyone knows this, and social self-ID is generally accepted.
