My 7 year old daughter asked me why a man was in the women's bathroom with us at The mall! How absolutely inappropriate is that!!!! Why should it be normalized to children that men are allowed in girls private spaces just because they feel entitled to??? What about the dignity if young girls and young women? My daughter has started a shy phase when undressing etc... why should she be confused by a MALE in her space?? This is a major abuse of women and girls.

How bloody awful! We teach our girls to have boundaries, but not if a man says he's a woman.

Are you in NZ?

Didn’t one of the legal brains behind the Indonesian Guidelines that delivered this shit storm admit that they didn’t consider the effects upon women at all? That the woman on the team concentrated on the health policy only. Of course women WERE represented by trans women

Yes, the Yogyakarta Principles. I can't remember his name, but he did admit that it didn't occur to the conference attendees to consider how those principles might affect women. He's apologetic for it now, but what a mess that has been created for women and girls due to the thoughtlessness of that.

Exceedingly dumb given they are supposed to be smart. Unless, of course, it suited some.

Interesting you should say that, when I've just read about this ten minutes ago - lol!

Dysrationalia: Just because someone is intelligent, doesn’t mean their intelligence is pursuing intelligent goals. Many genius-level intellects are put into the service of idiotic delusions.

Yes, Robert Wintemute, a UK Prof of Human Rights Law. Since recognising his oversight, and the oversight of the rest of them in not considering the impacts on women, he doesn't seem to have said or done much to remedy the error. And the others have done nothing at all. https://thecritic.co.uk/issues/april-2021/the-trans-rights-that-trump-all/

I didn't think he'd done much else apart from admitting to an "oops". I'm not sure how many of the others are TRAs.

Sure am :( that's right - I was so shocked that she recognized this 'woman' was male despite clothing etc... I didn't know what to say. When are girls allowed to say "get out of my space?" And this feels uncomfortable?? We are all being told our discomfort is hate speech! This is nothing more than abuse against women and girls.

This is awful. I'm going to make a wee mention of this, in broad terms, in my next blog piece. You won't be identified in any way, shape, or form, but just a reference to young girls recognising when men come into their spaces. We try and teach them boundaries, but these fly out the window when a man is wearing a dress and a wig.

This is WRONG on so many levels!! It's an abuse on women and girls... NOT OKAY. We must be allowed to say NO to males in our female only spaces if we are uncomfortable simply because they are male

I wonder if the muddled state on non-information on the Human Rights Commission webpage is because they still have a finger to the wind, trying to find out just how far they can go without getting massive complaints from those of us who have left the "be kind" brigade? Talking to people I meet (who tend to be in in an older age bracket), either they haven't got a clue that this shit is actually happening or they make a joke/downplay it. I had one acquaintance comment that "this will all blow over soon". If only this was true!

How many children will be permanently mutilated and turned into lifelong medical patients (that we will all be paying for) before this "blows over"? How many women will quit sports because they don't want to play on mixed sex teams? How many already traumatised women prisoners will have to cope with men in their spaces?

How many women have to be harmed before they are important enough to be regarded as worthy of being listened to?

People like your acquaintance think it's just a social movement which will soon become old news, and the next new thing take over. They have no idea how much of it's in legislation, which is a whole different ball game.

Yes and what are we supposed to say as mums ? It used to be easy "there should NEVER be a man in the women's spaces so you can report him and ask him to leave". Now, what are we supposed to say??? "I know it's not right but we are not allowed to ask him to leave as he thinks hes a woman"??? When is my young daughter allowed to say "get out" to a man when she is getting changed or using the toilet??

Interesting that NZ does have searchable Human Rights Law, ‘having just been forced to make searches regarding accessing my own home during Pride. (Pride used to deliver wristbands). This year residents have to queue up at specified times (‘am disabled) to obtain wristbands (“papers”) with photo ID and proof of address( !) so we can go about our business. ‘Don’t think ‘will have the energy and just can’t face so ‘hoping not to have stand up row like my neighbour, who was forced to wait by barriers and then followed to her front door one year.

I have no doubt your Human Rights Commission would favour Pride over you. I think Pride has now got councils in a neck lock.

I'm a pedant so I'm going to say that it's 'implies' not infers.

I actually pondered over which word to use, and in the end went for 'infers' because -

*Imply means to suggest or to say something in an indirect way.

*Infer means to suppose or come to a conclusion, especially based on an indirect suggestion.

I think that there's often an overlap between the words, though.

Absolutely. Words change their meanings over time.
