Others who should have been in the dock with him include the Green Party, including one of their co-leaders who thought that Eli did a pretty good job, Chris Hipkins who although he wasn't there, was clearly cheering from the sidelines and various other Green and Labour MPS who expressed opinions that appeared to support young men bashing up women superannuitants. Not to forget the media, none of which reported honestly, nor factually about KJK as a women's rights campaigner or the basic conflict between the hard-fought rights of women and the always just assumed rights of men even if they claim to have left their maleness behind.

The one silver lining in this fiasco was the attention it brought to this issue, which most of the public was unaware of before the global coverage this elicited.

How can someone, anyone, seen "repeatedly punching" anyone in the face get let off?

He was young (20) and showed remorse, as well as scrubbing up for court and being polite, with his mother present. The male judge sympathised with him more than with the older woman whose eye socket he fractured - the brotherhood prevails. He also made some statement about the 20yo learning from this experience and not expecting to see him in court ever again. The fact the police were present that day but did nothing to prevent this would have been such an embarassment to the whole criminal justice system that the judge would likely have been directed to go easy on the young man when all the older ones who were paid to protect citizens stood by and did nothing.

All I can say is thank goodness he got 'outed' in spite of having name suppression.

What he'll learn from his experience, is it's totally okay to smash a woman's eye socket because the police, judge and his Mum said so.

Meanwhile, over here, Katrina, after the riots, some people have been sent down for long periods for doing offensive tweets!! Go figure!

Yes, it's pretty shocking! There's lots been said about how wrong this is. It's hard to get one's head around how actual criminals are being released to make room in prison for naughty tweeters.

Male assaults female: Jail time.

No ifs, not buts.

Male in drag assaults female: automatic double time.

I’m not talking years.

Essentially either weeks or months depending upon severity.

Minimum one week.

I’m an old man, and old school.

There were some things that a man just never did.

I saw a few tussles and scraps in the evening after closing, but I never saw that.

If a girl ever lost it the correct thing to do was to back off. To give her space. Otherwise you might have to wrap your arms around her to protect her from herself.

To hit a girl was bad. To hit a woman as old as your mum was unthinkable.

To me it is still unthinkable.

We must bring that attitude back into society. No excuses. We want a society of real men. Decent men. Gentlemen in the true sense of the word.

Throw the book at the thugs.

Jennifer Bilek claimed that Kelly Jean was in danger of death. She isn’t a New Zealander so that nonsense is barely forgivable from her. B’old woman is from NZ and presumably knows that there have been no deaths at NZ demonstrations in our lifetime and therefore any suggestion that this might occur is ludicrous. This is how crazy USA right wing gun nuts talk about why they need their guns for defence, or the type of person who back in 1981 believed Springbok tour protests were funded by Russian gold.

There is a huge benefit to sticking to material facts and probabilities that are based on credible likelihood. We are dealing with gender fantasists -sex is a spectrum, sex can be changed, etc. Gender critical feminists should not ourselves become fantasists or we too will loose credibility.

Kellie-Jay herself has said that she felt that if she'd gone down in that crowd, she wouldn't have got up again. From all I've seen I agree that it was "a credible likelihood". She was lucky to have had people around her who staved and fought off those trying to get to her.

Nonsense. I don’t live in NZ either but I’ve got eyes and I saw the video which clearly shows someone in grave danger of being trampled by a rampaging mob who was only saved by the heroic efforts of the people surrounding her who just about managed to keep her upright.

I attended 2 Let Women Speak rallies in Australia, Sydney and Canberra, and the supporters of transsexualism outnumbered the women who gathered to speak about our rights. Their shouting, chants and noisemaking was intentionally intimidating and if not for the Police who held them at bay they clearly intended to insert themselves into our smaller group. I left the Canberra rally early because about 100 of the demonstrators had come to within about 30 metres of where we stood and their aggressively shouted slogans made me afraid (I have the video).

I don't follow your reasoning that because no one has been killed at a NZ demonstration "in our lifetime" that means Kellie-Jay Keen was therefore not in danger. Watching the live stream that day I definitely felt deeply distressed at what unfolded. The video of KJK being escorted out surrounded by her body guards encircled by screaming demonstrators obstructing them would seem to indicate that had she walked away unescorted she would have been attacked, as other women were.

Therefore I strongly disagree with your opinion that KJK was not in physical danger. I also disagree with your other assertion that Americans who value their right to carry guns are "right wing gun nuts".

BTW incidentally, I attended the anti apartheid Springbok tour protests in Auckland in 1981 (I'm a NZer) and its the first time I ever heard the theory about the Russian gold. I lived in the share house that one of the clowns who was arrested and beaten lived in.

I watched all angles & dangles of this riot filmed by others. Bilek's claim is fair to my mind.. a febrile & dangerous riot.
